Permissions needed for Rise (Google)

We need some permissions for Rise to function. We’re building a calendar and we want to integrate seamlessly with the rest of your work, which is why we require some access to your Google account.

Good to know:

  • We store only what we absolutely need
  • All of our data is stored in encrypted storage and encrypted using HTTPS
  • You can delete your account with one click – no need to reach out over email – and we will instantly remove all your events, contacts and other data we have stored

You can read more about how we protect your privacy in our privacy policy.

Required permission: calendars

Here’s the screen you’ll get when trying to connect your Google account. Only item 5 (the red one) in the list, which contains your calendar information, is required to start using Rise.

It’s a bit obvious, but: we need access to your calendar to be able to use Rise as a calendar and allow you to create, update and delete your events through Rise.

1. Associate you with your personal info on Google

By logging in with Google, we get access to your name and profile picture.

2. See your primary Google Account email address

By logging in with Google, we get access to your email address associated with your account and we’ll use that to link your Google Account to your Rise account.

3. See and download contact info automatically saved in your ‘Other contacts’ (Optional)

Google automatically creates a list of people you interact with over email in a group names ‘Other contacts’. With this scope we get access to that list and this allows us to automatically complete names and email addresses as you’re inviting people to events.

4. See and download your contacts (Optional)

With this scope we get access to your regularly created contacts in Google. This allows us to automatically complete names and email addresses as you’re inviting people to events.

5. See, edit, share and permanently delete all the calendars that you can access using Google Calendar (Required)

We need this access to be able to use Rise as a calendar and allow you to create, update and delete your events through Rise.

6. See and download your organisation’s G Suite directory (Optional)

With this scope we get access to the list of colleagues as they are made public in your G Suite directory. This allows us to automatically complete names and email addresses as you’re inviting people to events. Only relevant if you’re using Google for Business.

We’re constantly improving our setup to require the least amount of permissions required. If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out by sending an email to support@risecalendar.com.
